Spermidine Suppresses Age-Related Disease

In this study conducted by Kuniyasu Soda, Yoshihiko Kano, Takeshi Nakamura, Keizo Kasono, Masanobu Kawakami and Fumio Konishi, polyamines spermine, spermidine, and putrescine and their effects on the cellular function and the expression of adhesion molecules on human peripheral blood mononuclear cells, or PBMCs, from healthy volunteers. They tested the effects on the expression of adhesion molecules in PBMCs and the corresponding cellular functions by adding polyamines directly in vitro, and examined the correlations among age, blood polyamine levels, and the expression of adhesion molecules in human PBMCs.
